Smidolon Populator, the "sabre toothed cat"

Smilodon was as big as a current lion, it had 25 cm long canine teehts and coul open its jaws 120º. Its long canines were used to kill wide skinned annimals like all the prehistoric elephants of the age. Its supoused that they used to live in comunities, and ,as current lions, used to hunt in groups. They also ran ufter the old or ill mates, fact that was proved with findings of annimals with broken canines, broken jaws and important bones, wich would never survived by their own They had strong arms and strong cervical vetrebraes, this reveal they had an incredible force for cauching, killing and even carring their victims. Why did Smilodon dissapear? There are different theorieses. Climatic changes made the Giant annimals dissapear, so smilodon had to compite aginst men for food. There are also epidemiologycal and toxicologycal theories, about an invasion of norhtamerican toxic vegetables that killed the south american megaannimals smilodon used to eat. When giant mamales dissapeared, smilodon place was taken by smaller predators.
