Hi!
My name is Hernán Coria ( I am not relative of paleontologist Dr. Rodolfo Coria
), I collect and study fossils in Mar de Ajó since 1992 or 1993. Mar de Ajó
is an Argentinian town in the Atlantic Coast of Buenos Aires province ( see
map).as I am doctor and aslo works as anatomist and bones store and osteologycal
resourses encharged in the Second Anatomy Unit of the shcool of medicin in the
Buenos Aires Universitiy, my focus on fossils is almost completly anatomical,
most of my findigs are rests of Pleistocene vertebrates but i also find invertebrates.
Mar de Ajó is a touristic place, wich is 365 km south
from Buenos Aires city, where people use to go on vacation because of the large
and long beachs and sunny days. The town has some legends about pirates and
treasures, as many real ship wrecks, but almost everybody ignores the prehistory
of the area. The ground properties make it so difficult to find good fossils,
its also impossible at least by now, to find a complete annimal, so I have found
pieces of bones and complete bones, wich was enough to clasiffy them anatomic
and taxonomicaly. As there is no intrest by the authorities on paleontologycal
investigation, I decided to create the first web site of paleontology in the
area and publish my findings to let people know the past of the area. Mar de
Ajó in prehitorical apes.
Things I found, are from different apes but, most of them are rest of Pleistocene animals, and also Holocene seal animals. In the last two million years, the area have been invaded four times by sea, so it has sediments different origin sediments. Last sea ingresion was 10.000 years ago, when last ice age finished, and the big ice board wich were covering noth hemisphere became water and seas grew up 9 metres, covering kilometres of fiels that where the home of pleistocene annimals. Before that, Mar de Ajó coasts where 30 kilometres east Many scientists say the sea grew up much more than 9 metres, but the concept the remember is that 10.. years ago, sea got 60 km into continent, and retired to its current position only 4000 years ago. The map bellow shows how Earth looked like in pleistocene, and it also has current coasts in withe line.

I must apollogise for my possible mistakes in english grammar, and also remember you to write me if for more information is needed, and to make suggestions to improve my site. Thanks for visiting my site, and please, wreite my guests book!
