
Doedicurus clavicaudatus
Doedicurus belongs to gyptodontidae family, lived
during the Pleistocene aroximatly 100 mil years ago in South América,
migrating then to Central and North America. Doedicurus clavicaudatus was 4
metros long and could weight 2000 k. its shield was almost hemisferic, high,
its diameter was more than 2 metres metros. As all the glyptodons, was herbivorous,
its strong shield wascomplemented with a large tail made up bu the articulation
of six rings. the end of the tail had a ball of bone with pticks, also made
of bone. this annimal disapeared at the end o pleistocene, 10.000 years ago.
In Mar de Ajó I only found a few pieces of the shield wich are shown
bellow, ane are evidence of the doedicurus presence in Mar de Ajó.
