Doedicurus belongs to gyptodontidae family, lived during the Pleistocene aroximatly 100 mil years ago in South América, migrating then to Central and North America. Doedicurus clavicaudatus was 4 metros long and could weight 2000 k. its shield was almost hemisferic, high, its diameter was more than 2 metres metros. As all the glyptodons, was herbivorous, its strong shield wascomplemented with a large tail made up bu the articulation of six rings. the end of the tail had a ball of bone with pticks, also made of bone. this annimal disapeared at the end o pleistocene, 10.000 years ago.
In Mar de Ajó I only found a few pieces of the shield wich are shown bellow, ane are evidence of the doedicurus presence in Mar de Ajó.
